Maria Fernande Valdes (born March 17, 1992 ) is a Chilean weightlifter , winner of the 2017 World Cup, two-time winner of the Pan American championship, winner of the Pan American Games.

Career
She began weightlifting at age 16.
She participated in the 2012 Summer Olympics in weight up to 75 kg and finished ninth [1] . In January 2012, she broke her ankle, which prevented her from adequately preparing for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.
In the 2016 Pan American Weightlifting Championships, held in Colombia, she won first place. In this competition, she lifted a total of 244 kilograms. A few days later, the Chilean Weightlifting Federation confirmed its participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016.
At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Valdes took seventh place in the final in the category up to 75 kg, lifting 107 kg in the snatch and 135 in the clean and jerk, for a total of 242 kg.
In 2017, at the World Championships in Anaheim, she brings herself a silver medal with a total total weight of 255 kg on the bar. At the end of 2017, the Chilean athlete was awarded the "Best of the Best" award by the Chilean Olympic Committee and the Association of Sports Journalists.
At the 2018 Pan American Championship in Santo Domingo, she becomes second with a total weight of 253 kg.
At the 2018 World Cup in Ashgabat, Maria, in the weight category up to 87 kg, in the exercise the push wins a small bronze medal with a weight of 140 kg on the bar, and as a result becomes the fourth with a total of 250 kg.
