Shapkino - a village in the Yenisei region, Krasnoyarsk Territory of Russia. The administrative center of the Shapkinsky village council .

Geography

It is located on the left bank of the Yenisei River , on the Shapkin River flowing in the village.

There are nine streets in the village: Kedrovaya, Naberezhnaya, Nagornaya, Mira, Novaya, Lesnaya, Sosnovaya, Centralnaya, Shkolnaya ^[2] .

History

The village of Shapkino emerged as a village of loggers in the 1950s. There are several versions about the origin of the name of the village. The first version of the origin of the name is associated with the name of the station supervisor Shapkin. According to another version, Shapkino from a height resembles the shape of a hat and in the 1950s the village was named Shapkino. Not far from the village is the Yeniseisk-15 radar, built in the late 1970s - early 1980s and was dismantled.
