Biography
Member of the CPSU (b) since 1932. In 1933 he graduated from the Ural Institute of Mechanical Engineering. Doctor of Technical Sciences. Academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Armenian SSR .
In 1933-1939 - at the Ural Heavy Machinery Plant named after M.V. Frunze in Sverdlovsk : shift foreman, senior foreman, workshop head, head of the technical department, head of the planning and production department, deputy chief engineer of the plant.
In 1939-1940 - Head of the production and administrative department and member of the board of the People's Commissariat of Heavy Engineering of the USSR.
In the years 1940-1941. - Deputy People's Commissar of Heavy Engineering of the USSR.
In June-November 1941 - First Deputy People's Commissar of Machine Tool Industry of the USSR.
In 1941-1943 - Deputy Commissar of the Tank Industry of the USSR.
In 1943-1945 - Deputy member of the State Defense Committee for Tank Industry.
In 1945-1947 - Assistant to the Deputy Chairman of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR, at the same time works in the First Main Directorate under the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR.
In 1947-1953 - Deputy Head of the First Main Directorate of the USSR Council of Ministers for equipment and supplies.
In June-November 1953, he was head of the Equipment Department of the USSR Ministry of Medium Machine-Building.
In 1953-1955 - Director of the plant number 813 of the Ministry of secondary engineering of the USSR.
In the years 1955-1962. - Deputy Minister of secondary engineering of the USSR.
In the years 1962-1963. - Chairman of the State Committee of the Council of Ministers of the USSR on the use of atomic energy.
In 1963-1965 - Chairman of the State Committee for the Use of Atomic Energy of the Supreme Council of the National Economy of the USSR Council of Ministers of the USSR.
In 1965-1978 - First Deputy Minister of Medium Engineering of the USSR and head of the Main Directorate for the Use of Atomic Energy.
In 1978-1986 - Chairman of the USSR State Committee for the Use of Atomic Energy.
In 1962-1987 - Plenipotentiary representative of the USSR at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna.
Since 1986 - a personal pensioner of national importance.
The author of the phrase "science requires sacrifice" (said on May 6, 1986 at a press conference of the government commission on the aftermath of the Chernobyl accident). [one]
He was buried at the Vagankovsky cemetery in Moscow [2] .
