Biography
David Chavchavadze was born on September 12, 1878 in the princely family of Chavchavadze . By religion was Orthodox . He graduated from the Tiflis Cadet Corps , after which, on October 1, 1897, he entered the service of the Russian Imperial Army . He received a military education in Nikolaevsky Cavalry School , which he graduated on the 1st category and from which he was released into the 44th Dragoon Nizhny Novgorod Regiment (since 1907 the regiment was called the 17th). It was produced in cornets with seniority from August 9, 1899, as lieutenants - from August 9, 1903 [1] .
Participated in the Russian-Japanese war , during which he was wounded. August 9, 1907 received seniority in the rank of captain-in-chief . He graduated from the officer's cavalry school , with a rating of "successful . " August 9, 1911 received seniority in the rank of captain . As of September 1, 1913, he served as a captain in the 17th Dragoon Regiment [1] .
Took part in the First World War. As of February 26, 1916, he served as a lieutenant colonel in the same regiment. February 26, 1916 was promoted to colonel with seniority from November 26, 1916. On June 14, 1916 he was appointed commander of the Georgian Horse Regiment. As of October 5, 1917, he served in the same rank and position [1] .
