Romanian military tax surcharge stamp (1918)

A military tax surcharge stamp is a special type of additional surcharge stamp intended for postal items that were not paid by the sender with a military tax mark . At the same time, the payment of the missing fee was made by the addressee in double size [1] [2] .

History

Military tax surcharge stamps were issued in Romania between 1915 and 1921 (including the period of the German military administration in 1918) [1] [2] . They were applied in addition to military tax stamps issued in this country in 1915-1918. The inscriptions on such stamps read: rum. “TAXA DE PLATĂ” (“Collection surcharge”) and “TIMBRU DE AJUTOR” (“Tax stamp”).
