Bari is the people of the nilot group. They live mainly in South Sudan , in the Equatorial province, along the banks of the White Nile to the south of the city of Terrakek and around the city of Juba . There are bari groups in the border areas of Uganda (about 20 thousand) and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (50 thousand). Number - more than 700 thousand people. Bari are divided into groups: kakva, kuku, podzhulu, nbyangbara, mandari, nyepi, lego. They speak the language of the Bari of the Nilot branch of the Kir-Abbai family of the East Sudan superfamily of the Nilo-Saharan macro family. Bari has traditional beliefs.

The main traditional occupation is cattle breeding , developed hoe agriculture (the main crops are Eleusis, manioc, peanuts), hunting and fishing, traditional handicrafts - weaving, wood carving (ancestral figures, masks, headrests)
Maintain tribal division. The kinship system is like Omaha. The family is big, patriarchal. The relationship of kinship is patrilineal. Marriage - virilokalny, the polygyny is widespread.
