Roman Malek ( Czech Roman Málek ; September 25, 1977 , Prague , Czechoslovakia ) - former Czech hockey player , goalkeeper . Champion of the Czech Republic 2003. He completed his career in 2015. Currently, he is the coach of the goalkeepers of the Slavia Prague club, playing in the first Czech league.

Career

Roman Malek made his debut in the Czech Extra League for his native club Slavia Prague at the end of the 1996/97 season. In 2001, he was first recognized as the best goalkeeper of the Extra League. In 2003, Malek helped Slavia win the Czech champion’s first title in the club’s history, and he himself was recognized as the best hockey player of the season. The next season he moved to Pilsen and again became the best hockey player in the Czech championship.

Later he played in the Russian Super League and the Swedish Elite Series for Magnitogorsk Metallurg and MODO , respectively. In Extraliga he played for Karlovy Vary and Vitkovice . In 2011, for the third time he was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the Extra League [1] . In January 2014 he moved from Vitkovice to Prague Sparta [2] . After the end of the 2013/14 season, he remained without a club for a long time [3] . In October 2014, he signed a contract with Mlada Boleslav [4] . In the summer of 2015, he completed his playing career and immediately began to train Prague goalkeepers “Slavia” [5] .

From 2001 to 2007 he played for the Czech national team . Member of the 2003 World Cup .

Married, two children: Roman and Yakub. The eldest son Roman (born December 24, 2000) is the goalkeeper of the Prague junior team Slavia [6] .
