Andrei Filippovich Pashchenko ( August 15, 1883 , Rostov-on-Don - November 16, 1972 ) - composer, honored artist of the RSFSR (1957).
In 1917 he graduated from the Petrograd Conservatory in the composition class of M. O. Steinberg . In 1917-21 he was in charge of the State Orchestra's music library, in 1921-31 - the library of the Leningrad Philharmonic Society. From 1961 he lived in Moscow.
He is the author of numerous works of various genres, including the operas The Eagle Rebellion (Pugachevism, 1925) and The Black Yar (1931). He wrote the music for the films “Alien Relatives” (1955), “Soviet Buryat-Mongolia” (1951), “The Fearless” (1937), “Dubrovsky” (1936), “House of Greed” (1934), “Iudushka Golovlev” (1933 ) [1] .
Pashchenko stands out as “a master of mass style and a bright colorist of the choir and orchestra” [2] .
