The list contains electric cars of the subways that were ever operated in the subways of the USSR , and later Russia and other countries of the former USSR, as well as those exported by factories of the USSR and post-Soviet countries. The list also includes experienced electric cars that have been tested, but for a number of reasons have not been put into operation. Electric cars of the subways of the USSR, Russia and other countries of the former USSR have the same gauge as conventional railways (1524/1520 mm), but at the same time they are powered by a 750 V DC current rail located on the side of the track. Unlike ground-based electric trains, the numbering of electric trains for the subways of the USSR, Russia and other post-Soviet countries is carried out by carriage and without a series designation, while the wagons of most models have continuous numbering, with the exception of some models, such as 81-720 / 721 Yauza or 81 -740/741 Rusich, the numbers of which are indicated within the series and coincide with the numbers of previously issued cars of other models (81-717 / 714, Ezh6, L, etc.), as well as export ones.

Contact-battery electric locomotives
Contact-battery electric subways are used along with motor-vehicles for shunting in the territory of an electric depot without a contact rail, driving service trains at night in the absence of voltage on the contact rail or on non-electrified lines for special purposes, as well as transporting faulty cars to the depot when the voltage is off. Structurally, such cars are based on ordinary passenger cars and can have unused automatic passenger doors, but unlike other cars, they have two driver's cabs (one on each side), and battery cells are installed instead of seats in the passenger compartment.
