Yakup Shener ( tour. Yakup Şener ; born September 1, 1990 , Trabzon ) is a Turkish boxer , representative of the light and first welterweight categories. He played for the Turkish boxing team in the period 2004-2016, two-time champion of the national championship, winner and winner of tournaments of international importance, participant in the Summer Olympic Games in London .

Biography
Yakup Shener was born on September 1, 1990 in the city of Trabzon , Turkey . He was trained at the Fenerbahçe boxing club in Istanbul under the supervision of coach Mehmet Degirmendji [1] .
In 2004, he performed at the European Championship among schoolchildren in Hungary. Two years later, he boxed at the European championship among the cadets in Albania and at the world championship among the cadets in Istanbul, where he won a bronze medal, losing to Russian Vladimir Sarukhanyan at the semifinal stage. A year later, he participated in the Cadet European Championship in Hungary and the Cadet World Championship in Azerbaijan.
He first made himself known at an adult level in the 2008 season, when he won the Turkish championship in Adana in the lightweight category - he defeated all rivals here, including in the finals he defeated Fatih Keles . In addition, he performed at the Youth World Championships in Guadalajara, became the silver medalist of the Dan Pozniak Cup in Vilnius.
At the 2010 Turkish championship in Mersin, he became the second in the welterweight, losing in the final to Onuru Shipalu .
In 2011, he won the Turkish championship again.
At the European Olympic qualification in Trabzon, he defeated all opponents in the tournament bracket and thanks to this successful performance he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London . Speaking in the category up to 64 kg , he successfully passed the first opponent, while in the second fight in the 1/8 finals with a score of 8:16 he was defeated by the Uzbek Uktamjon Rakhmonov [2] .
After the London Olympics, Shener remained in the Turkish national team and continued to take part in various international competitions. So, in 2014, he became the silver medalist of the Turkish welterweight championship, losing in the final to Onder Shipal , and won the bronze medal at the Ahmet Jömert international tournament in Istanbul.
In 2015, he noted his performance at the President’s Cup in Erzurum.
He participated in the match meetings of the World Series of Boxing League 2016 season, representing the team “Turkish Conquerors”. He entered the ring here against such famous boxers as Vladimir Matviychuk and Yasniel Toledo , but both lost on points [3] .
