USA Really

In April 2018, RIA FAN announced ^[1] that it was preparing to launch a new project, “Wake up America.” On May 28, 2018, the usareally.com website was launched in test mode. The official opening took place on June 14, 2018, on the birthday of U.S. President Donald Trump and American Flag Day. The presentation of the project in Washington was held ^{on the} same day ^[2] .

Agency editors focus on the news about US politics and society. A separate section ^{[3] is} devoted to copyright materials from authoritative American political experts.

The company’s office is located in Moscow, but, as editor-in-chief Alexander Malkevich claims, a significant number of writing authors work “locally” in the United States. Malkevich himself regularly travels to the United States, as evidenced by recent interviews ^[4] . It is declared that the site of the news agency does not carry out propaganda activities, covering America’s sports ^[5] achievements and positive events in the life of the country.

Since June 2018, the agency has been subject to blocking ^[6] by the world's leading social networks. According to October 2018, Facebook has deleted three pages of the project. Twitter blocked three accounts and marked the link to the site as malicious. LinkedIn banned the distribution of links; Instagram initially prohibited the use of image captions when registering a profile. The podcast page on SoundCloud audio hosting has also been removed. Google has blocked USA Really accounts on all of its sites, including YouTube and Google+.

In September 2018, leading American media began to actively write about the USA Really project. Attributing the publication to the so-called “troll factory”, they claimed that the project was created to intervene in the midterm elections to the US Congress in November 2018. Malkevich in response openly acknowledged that the project was created in Russia, but called it the goal of open journalism and the formation of an objective news agenda, which, in his opinion, is actively censored by the authorities .
