Juno Moneta (from the Latin. Moneta - adviser, mentor [1] , from the Latin "warn" [2] ) is one of the names of the goddess Juno in Roman mythology . According to legend, it arose in the war with Pyrrhus , when Juno responded to the Romans who asked her that they would have no shortage of money if they justly waged a war. When this promise was fulfilled, the Romans called it the Coin and began to depict its minted money in 269 BC. er in the form of Justice, with weights in the right hand and a cornucopia in the left, as well as the inscription Moneta [2] . The Temple of Yunona Coin was located on Capitol Hill , presumably at the site of the Basilica of Santa Maria in Araceli . Since the first courtyard for minting was arranged at the temple, the money itself was called coins from here [3] [4] . She was sacrificed a pig pig [5] .
From the Coin originated the modern words "mint" and English. money .
