Private life
From the curling family. His mother, Lynn Hewitt ( born Lynn Hewitt ) [3] , was born and raised in Canada , where she had played curling since childhood; when she married Australian Steve Hewitt ( Eng. Steve Hewitt, Stephen Hewitt ) [4] and they moved to Australia, where Dean was born, his father also started playing curling, including in the Australian national team (one from the international tournaments in which he participated, there was a demonstration curling tournament at the 1992 Winter Olympics ). Dean and Lynn often play together in mixed teams; they acted as the mixed doubles team of Australia in the world championships among mixed pairs 2017 and 2018 - and they were not disturbed by the difference in their age, exceeding 30 years. [5] [6]
Dean graduated from the University of Deakin with a degree in Clinical Psychology. [7]
He started curling at the age of 6 years. [8] [9]
