History
In 1756, 1 ruble , 2 rubles, and 50 kopecks were minted for palace use, some of which are trial ones [1] .
Coin Description
This coin was made of 917 gold; its diameter is 15-16 mm , and its weight is 1.60 g , and pure gold is 1.47. The edge is smooth [1] [2] [3] [4] .
The obverse of the trial gold ruble depicts the right profile portrait of Elizabeth Petrovna, on whose head is a small imperial crown. The hair ornaments are reproduced from pearls and precious stones. Bust in a dress embroidered and decorated with precious stones. A falling mantle is fastened on the right shoulder with a clasp. Circular inscription: "B ∙ M ∙ ELISAVET ∙ I ∙ IMP: ISAMOD: VSEROS ∙." The reverse depicts the monogram of the Empress “𝓔𝓟”, above the monogram is the imperial crown. Circular inscription: "MON ∙ PRICE ∙ RUBLE ∙ 1756 ∙" [1] [2] [3] [4] .
