The Palace of the Grandfathers - a monument of architecture of classicism in Lviv ( Ukraine ). Located in the central part of the city, on Teatralnaya street, 18.
The building is made of brick, plastered, square in plan, with a patio, three-story. The facade is divided into pilasters with pedestals lined with stone. The center of the facade is emphasized by a slightly protruding risalit with four Doric columns completed by a triangular pediment . The sculptural consoles of the balcony of the second floor are interestingly solved.
The foundations and the first floor of the building date back to the late 18th century. In 1830, the building was rebuilt in the spirit of classicism by the architect V. Ravsky Sr. It housed the services of a magistrate [1] .
In 1868 , Count Vladimir Dedushitsky bought this building, in 1870 opened a natural history museum, and in 1890 handed it over to public hands. Today the State Natural History Museum of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine is located here, in which more than 360 thousand exhibits are collected.
From 1995 to 2011 , the building is undergoing major repairs.
