Career

After the MacLean family moved to Hampton, Jamel entered Bethel High School, where he tried his hand at the school team. A year later, in Tulsa, he made his debut in the NCAA Division One tournament. Macklin played in 31 matches on average for 17 minutes, gaining 6 points and 4.8 rebounds. The next season, Jamel spent in a team at Xavier University in Cincinnati. As part of the student team, he won the regular season three times in the Atlantic 10 conference [1] .

Macklin's professional career began at the Belgian club Leuven Bears , where he spent the 2011/2012 season, gaining 9.3 points and 6.8 rebounds in 36 matches. Over the next 2 years, Jamel played for the Belgian Ostend and the German Telecom Basket .

In 2014, Maclean made his Euroleague debut as part of the Berlin Alba and spent 25 minutes on the floor in each match, gaining an average of 13 points and 5.6 rebounds. At the end of the season, the player was recognized as the MVP of the German championship.

From 2015 to 2017, MacLean became the champion of the Italian League, twice the winner of the Italian Cup and the winner of the Super Cup speaking for Olimpia Milan . Also, Jamel was recognized as the most valuable player in the 7th round of the Euroleague. For two seasons in the Euroleague he played in 40 matches and averaged 9.7 points and 4.2 rebounds.

In the 2017/2018 season at Olympiacos , Jamel's score was 8.7 points and 4.7 rebounds. In the 13th round of the Euroleague, he shared the title of the most valuable player with Khimki defender Alexei Shvedom [2] . This season, Maclean also took part in the Greek All-Star Game.

In July 2018, Maclean moved to Lokomotiv-Kuban [3] . In 22 VTB United League matches, Jamel averaged 8.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists per match [4] .

In the 2nd round of the TOP-16 Eurocup, Maclean was recognized as the “Most Valuable Player”. In the match with Skyline (92:69), Jamel scored 19 points, 3 rebounds, 4 interceptions and 31 points for the effectiveness of actions [5] .
