Yulian Mikhailov Strogov ( Bulgarian. Yulian Mikhailov Strogov ; born March 28, 1972 , Dobrich ) - Bulgarian boxer , representative of the lightest weight category. Biography

Yulian Strogov was born on March 28, 1972 in the city of Dobrich , Bulgaria . He trained at the local boxing club Dobrudja Dobrich.

He first made himself known on the international scene in the 1988 season, when he joined the Bulgarian national team and won the Silver Boat Junior tournament in Poland.

In 1990, he performed at the European Championship among juniors in Czechoslovakia.

Since 1991, he boxed at an adult level, in particular, became the silver medalist of the international Intercup tournament in Germany and won a bronze medal at the Sydney World Championship , where he was supposed to meet with DPRK representative Choi Chul Soo at the stage of the semifinals, but did not go to battle due to injury.

Thanks to a series of successful appearances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona - he successfully passed the first opponent in the tournament bracket in the 51 kg category, while in the second fight in the 1/8 finals with a score of 7:19 he was defeated by an American Tim Austin .

In 1993, he boxed at the European Championships in Bursa , losing to Rovshan Huseynov of Azerbaijan in the quarterfinals.

In 1996, he visited the European Championship in Vejle , from where he brought the silver dignity award won in the standings of the lightest weight category - in the final final match he lost to the Russian Albert Pakeyev . Being among the leaders of the boxing team of Bulgaria, I passed the selection for the Olympic Games in Atlanta - this time I was knocked out of the fight for medals already in the opening match.

Subsequently, Yulian Strogov for several years remained in the main team of the Bulgarian national team and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 1997, he performed at the Felix Stamm Memorial in Poland and at the World Championships in Budapest , where he was defeated by Russian boxer Ilfat Razyapov in the 1/16 final.

In 1999 he became the bronze medalist of the King’s Cup in Bangkok, boxing at the world championship in Houston [1] .
