Referenda in Switzerland were held on March 7, June 6, September 26 and November 26, 1993 [1] . In March, three referenda were held on the federal law on raising the fuel tax (approved), on the federal resolution on the lifting of the ban on gambling establishments (approved) and on the popular initiative “on banning animal experiments ” (rejected) [2] . In June, two referenda were held on popular initiatives “40 military training sites - enough - an ecological projection on the army” and “for Switzerland without new military aircraft ”. Both were repelled [2] .
In September, referendums were held on the federal resolution on the abuse of arms (approved), whether Laufen is part of the canton of Basel-Land (approved), on the popular initiative “on the introduction of the Swiss National Holiday on August 1” (approved), on the federal resolution on the temporary ban on raising the cost of health insurance (approved) and the federal resolution on unemployment insurance (approved) [2] .
In November, 6 referenda were held: on a federal resolution on financial procedures (approved), on the return of money borrowed from the federal government (approved), on measures to preserve social insurance (approved) and on special excises (approved), as well as on popular initiatives “ to reduce alcohol problems ”and“ to reduce tobacco problems ”(both rejected) [1] .
