Order of the Patriotic War I degree Order of the Red Banner Medal "For the victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945."

At the age of 17, being the front commander of the artillery platoon of the BM-13 Katyusha division, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Battle .

After the war, he was an international journalist, correspondent for the Pravda newspaper in Latin America, and deputy editor-in-chief of Vokrug Sveta magazine. In 1981-1985, he was the editor-in-chief of the literary and artistic almanac " Contemporary Drama ".

Two works of the writer were filmed: " This strange Russian " and " These naughty sons ."

Biography

Born July 11, 1925 in the city of Moscow.

With the outbreak of World War II , Chichkov, who in July 1941 was only 16 years old, having changed his birth year to 1923, entered the First Moscow Art Special School.

Since the fall of 1942, on the Voronezh Front - lieutenant, intelligence chief of 389 separate guards mortar division of the 97th guards mortar regiment ( rocket artillery regiment , which was armed with 36 BM-13 Katyusha units, from September 12, 1942 as part of the 40th army ) .

At seventeen he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of War:

Comrade Chichkov was given the task of exploring the exact location of enemy units. On September 22, 1942, the Guard, Lieutenant V. Chichkov, discovered an accumulation of enemy infantry, and on his initiative and given the coordinates, a volley was given. As a result, infantry and two enemy tanks were destroyed before the company. As head of intelligence, he accurately adjusted the fire of his division. In October 1942, in the battles near Voronezh on the Chizhov bridgehead he was seriously wounded, after being cured in a hospital in 1943 he returned to duty.

He met the victory in Stettin with the rank of senior lieutenant. He was also awarded the Order of the Patriotic War I degree (1985).

Journalist

After the war he entered MGIMO , which he graduated in 1952.

He worked as a literary officer, and then as a special correspondent for the newspaper Pravda in Latin America.

When the Cuban revolution won the revolution in Cuba, Vasily Chichkov was the first Soviet correspondent to fly to Havana, met with Fidel Castro and Che Guevara .

In 1958, the first book, Under the Constellation of the Southern Cross, was published. In 1964 he was admitted to the USSR Writers Union .

He worked as deputy chief editor of the magazine " Around the World ".

In 1981-1985, he was the chief editor of the literary and artistic almanac " Contemporary Drama ".

He died on October 30, 1985.
