Biography

Born March 19, 1937.

Graduated from Moscow Power Engineering Institute . From 1965 to 1968 he worked at the Scientific Research Institute of Automatic Equipment; From 1968 to 1991, he worked at the Research Center for the Development of Computer Science and Technology, where he worked his career from an engineer to the first deputy director for scientific work - head of the integrated department. He took part as a deputy chief designer in the creation of electronic computers of the EU computer : EC-1050, EC-1060, EC-1061, EC-1065, VK-2P-60. As the chief designer, he also provided the development of senior models of EC computers: EC-1066, EC-1068, EC-1087, EC-1191. He was also appointed chief designer of high-performance computers and computer complexes of the EU computers of the Ministry of Radio Industry of the USSR.

Working since 1991 at the Voskhod Scientific Research Institute, Yuri Sergeyevich Lomov, as the chief designer, provided for the first time in the USSR the creation of the State Automated System Vybory [1] , provided scientific guidance for the development and organization of the creation of the entire infrastructure of this geographically distributed global system. Then, having entered the Argon Research Institute JSC, Yuri Lomov, as the first deputy scientific adviser, made a decisive contribution to the successful implementation of the Expedition research project for the scientific forecasting of the development of computer technology for the period until 2025–2045.

Yu. S. Lomov is the author of more than 100 scientific works, including 3 monographs , 11 copyright certificates for inventions. For several years, doing basic production work, he lectured on computers as a professor at MIREA and Moscow State Technical University. N.E. Bauman . He was a member of several academic councils, made several presentations at international scientific seminars, and was chairman of international commissions on interstate testing of computer equipment of the CMEA member countries .

Laureate of the USSR State Prize, was awarded the titles "Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation" and "Honorary Radio Operator of the USSR", and was awarded medals. He is listed in the Gallery of Glory of Outstanding Figures of Russian Computer Engineering. [2]

Being seriously ill, he worked hard until the last days, preparing a number of significant publications for the Second edition of the book “The History of Russian Electronic Computing Technology” and for the 4th volume of the book “Pages of the History of Domestic IT” [3] , as well as the report “EC computers through a prism Russian and world computer technology ”, which was presented on October 3, 2017 at the plenary meeting of the IV International Conference“ Development of Computer Technology in Russia and the Former Soviet Union: History and Prospects ”(SoRuCom-2017, Zelenograd city).
