Daniel Asenov ( Bulgarian. Daniel Asenov ; born May 17, 1997 , Kukorevo ) is a Bulgarian boxer , the representative of the lightest weight category. He has been playing for the Bulgarian boxing team since 2015, two-time European champion, winner and winner of many tournaments of international importance, a participant in the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro .

Biography

Daniel Asenov was born on May 17, 1997 in the village of Kukorevo, Yambol Region , Bulgaria . He began to engage in boxing under the guidance of coach Mladen Stanev, and later became a ward of Dimitr Mutafov in the boxing club “Aprilets” in the village of Boyadzhik .

He achieved his first serious success at the adult international level in the season of 2015, when he joined the main team of the Bulgarian national team and spoke at the home European Championship in Samokov , where he defeated all opponents in the lightweight category and thereby won a gold medal. At the same time, at the World Championships in Doha, he dropped out of the fight for medals in the 1/8 finals, losing to Kazakh Olzhas Sattybaev .

Thanks to a series of successful performances, he was awarded the right to defend the country's honor at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Summer Olympics - in the category of 52 kg the first opponent in the tournament bracket successfully passed, while in the second fight in the 1/8 finals with a score of 0: 3 was defeated by Algerian Mohamed Flissy [1] .

After the Olympics, Asenov remained in the boxing team of Bulgaria and continued to take part in major international tournaments. So, in 2017, he won the European championship in Kharkov , while at the world championship in Hamburg he reached the 1/8 finals, losing to Uzbek Jasurbek Latipov . He represented the Bulgarian Fighting Roosters team in the World Series of Boxing league [2] .
