History
In 1795, the governor of Cordoba, Rafael de Sobremonte, founded the town of Villa Real del Rosario (named after the Virgin Mary of the Rosary ). Due to its location on Camino Real (the Royal Road) leading to Upper Peru , the city took part in various events in the history of South America of the 19th century.
