Service History
A steam wheeled tug was built in Kiev at the Lenin Forge factory in 1935 [1] .
With the outbreak of war, the "Paris Commune" was mobilized according to the pre-war plan and on July 1 it was completely converted into a warship at the plant named after I.V. Stalin in Kiev. By permission of the Main Naval Headquarters (GMS), the ship was armed with two 34-K universal artillery mounts in half towers, which could also fire at air targets [1] .
On July 11, the “Paris Commune” (in the military documents also gives the numbered name “SK-3”) was included in the Pripyat detachment of river ships (ORK) of the Pinsk Military Flotilla (PVF). His commander was reserve lieutenant N. N. Gordienko. On August 10, by order of the patrol ship, it is transferred to the Kiev PVK PVK ORC for operations on the Dnieper River on the flanks of the Kiev fortified area . At the same time, a new commander was appointed to the ship - junior lieutenant Sutuzhko S. F. On August 22, the watchman received an order to cover the Dnieper crossing of the retreating 5th Army of the South-Western Front near the village of Navozy [1] .
On the evening of August 23, the advance detachment of the 111th German Infantry Division , reinforced with StuG III self-propelled guns, overthrew the retreating but poorly organized parts of the 27th Rifle Corps of the 37th Army of the South-Western Front [2] and captured the bridgehead on the left bank of the Dnieper near the village of Okuninovo [3] . Thus, the PVF ships operating north were cut off from Kiev , where the flotilla headquarters was at that time [4] .
On the night of August 26, 1941, the “Paris Commune”, together with other ships of the flotilla, participated in a breakthrough to Kiev from the Chernobyl - Domantovo region [5] , past the German Okuninovsky bridgehead. On the approach to the Okuninovsky bridge, the patrol ship came under heavy fire, a stern gun was hit, and its crew was killed. The "Paris Commune" was able to pass under the bridge, but after a few minutes received another hit of the projectile in the engine. The ship, which lost its course, was carried aground. Attempts to repair the steam engine and remove the agitator from the shallows were unsuccessful. Therefore, at dawn, on the orders of the commander, the crew blew up their ship [1] . At least one crew member was captured by the enemy [4] .
On August 31, the Paris Commune was removed from the list of Navy ships on the orders of the fleet commander, and in 1948 the wreckage was scrapped [1] .
