By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan SSR, the administrative-territorial unit of Shaumyan district was liquidated and its territory was annexed to Goranboy region ^[1] .

Flag of the Republic of Azerbaijan

February 5th

during the session of the Supreme Council, a decision is made to name the country the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The 3-color ADR flag is approved by the state flag ^[2] .

March 18

creation of a private Khazar university in Azerbaijan ^[3] ^[4] ^[5] .

April 19th

liquidation of the curfew established on January 20, 1990.

August 30th

at an extraordinary session of the Supreme Council, the “Declaration on the Restoration of State Independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan” ^[6] ^{[7] is} adopted.

election of Heydar Aliyev as the Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic ^[8] .

The Supreme Council of Azerbaijan adopted the law "On the creation of the Armed Forces" ^[12] .

Official recognition of the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Romania ^[18]

official recognition of independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Pakistan

At a meeting of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhichevan Autonomous Republic, chaired by Heydar Aliyev, it was decided to establish the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis.

December 25th

The National Council of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan adopted a law declaring December 31 as the Day of Solidarity of World Azerbaijanis. ^[nineteen]
President of Azerbaijan signed the law "On the restoration of the Azerbaijani alphabet with Latin graphics" ^[20] .

official recognition of the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Jordan and Sudan .
