Damir Aparanchay

Damir-Aparanchay [1] ( azerb. Dəmiraparançay - “river attracting iron” [2] ) is a river in Azerbaijan , flowing through the territory of the Gabala region . The river originates on Mount Kurvedag [1] at an altitude of about 3850 m and, flowing in a south-westerly direction in the central part of the region, branching, flows into both the Turianchay River and the Geokchay River [3] . The river meets the Geokchay River at an altitude of 385 m above sea level in the southeast of the village of Bayramkohaly [4] . In the north of the city of Gabala in the western direction, the Karachay canal separates from the river, which connects to the Turianchay river in the north of the village of Savalan [4] .

The catchment area of ​​the river is 596 km² [4] .

The city of Gabala , as well as the villages of Kusnet and Laza are located on the river. The right tributary of the river is Durdzhachay [1] . Above the Muchugchay River, which is the left tributary of the Damir-Aparanchay River, the Muchug Falls is located, which falls from a height of about 50 m and takes second place in Azerbaijan after Afurdzh Falls [4] .
