Vakhtang Dmitrievich was directly involved in organizing the production of space technology, developing technologies for manufacturing the first domestic ballistic missiles , launch vehicles , Vostok , Voskhod and Soyuz manned spacecraft , L-1 and N-1 lunar programs, orbital programs Salyut and Mir stations, D and DM booster blocks , Progress cargo ships , led the work on creating the reusable space system Energy - Buran [1] .

Biography
Born on June 20, 1929 in the city of Bobruisk, Belorussian SSR.
In 1953 he graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute with a degree in mechanical engineering.
In 1953–1964, he was a foreman, assistant to the head of the workshop and head of the technical bureau, deputy head of the workshop, deputy head of production, head of the workshop at factory No. 88 (the city of Kaliningrad, now Korolev, Moscow Region ); in 1964-1966 he worked as deputy chief engineer - production manager of plant number 88. In 1966-1974 he was first deputy director - chief engineer of the Experimental Mechanical Engineering Plant [2] , located in the same city.
In 1974-1977 - head of the 3rd Main Directorate, member of the board of the Ministry of General Engineering of the USSR (Moscow).
Then he worked in the city of Korolev: in 1977–1991 - Director General of NPO Energia , in 1991–1992 - General Director of the commercial and technical Center for Cosmonautics of the State Clinical Hospital NPO Energia, and since 1992, scientific adviser to RSC Energia named after S.P. Koroleva.
He died on October 25, 2018. [3]
