Chervonets is a coin of the Russian kingdom minted from gold .

History
Chervontsy were in the Russian Empire during the reign of Peter I - later the first emperor of the Russian Empire. These coins were minted from box gold 969, their diameter is from 23.3 to 23.6 mm , and their weight is 3.47 g , and pure gold is 3.36 g. They were issued in the Kadashevsky Mint . The edge is smooth [1] [2] [3] [4] .
On the obverse of the chervonets is shown the right profile portrait of Peter I. On the head is a laurel wreath without a ribbon. The bust is draped with a cloak, which is fastened to the shoulder with a clasp. Circular inscription: "tsar petr alekliievich". The reverse depicts the coat of arms of the Russian Empire at the beginning of the 18th century - a two-headed eagle crowned with three crowns. In the right paw, he squeezes the scepter , in his left holds the power . On the chest of the eagle is a shield with the emblem of Moscow . Below, under the line, the date is indicated in Slavic letters: "¼а¼а". Circular inscription: "all rwssіi samoderzhets" [1] [2] [3] [4] .
The characteristics of the chervonets of Peter I changed over the following years: the chervonets of 1703 had a test of box gold of 980, a diameter of 23.6 to 23.8 mm [1] [2] [5] [6] ; in 1711, a test of box gold 969, the diameter is from 21.9 to 22.2 mm [1] [2] [6] [7] [8] ; In 1712, a test of box gold 980, diameter is from 21.6 to 22.3 mm, and weight is 3.47 g, pure gold is 3.40 g. From now on, they began to be produced in the Red Mint [1] [2] [9] [10] .

- On the obverse of the chervonets 1703 a right profile portrait of the emperor in knightly armor is depicted, on the head of which is a laurel wreath fastened with ribbons. Circular inscription: "tsar petr alekliievi͡ch". The reverse depicts a double-headed eagle crowned with three crowns. Below, on the line, is the date in Slavic letters: "«а¼г". Circular inscription: "commanded the all-Russian" [1] [2] [5] [6] .
- On the obverse of the chervonets 1711 depicts the right profile portrait of Peter I in a laurel wreath, in armor and mantle. Circular inscription: "ЦРh ПЕТРh АЛЕѮIЕВИЧh". On the reverse on the chest of the eagle there is a right shield with St. George the Victorious on a horse that defeats the dragon. At the eagle in its beaks and paws are four cards symbolizing the dominance of the Russian Empire over the four seas - the Baltic , White , Caspian and Azov . Circular inscription: "V S E R O S I S C I I S A M O D E R J E C B 17 11" [1] [2] [6] [7] [8] .
- On the obverse of the chervonets 1716 depicts the right profile portrait of Peter I in armor and a cloak without a buckle, on the head of which there is a wreath. Circular inscription: "PETRVS ALEXII ∙ I ∙ D ∙ G ∙ RVSS: (PETER ALEKSEEVICH I GOD'S GRACE OF RUSSIA)." The reverse depicts a double-headed eagle under three crowns. On the chest of the eagle is a shield with the emblem of Moscow. In the right paw, he squeezes the scepter, in his left holds the power. Circular inscription: “IMPM ∙ DVX ∙ MOSCOVIÆ 1716 ∙ (LORD, GREAT PRINCE MOSCOW)” [1] [2] [3] [11] .
In addition to 1701, this coin was minted in other years. Also, the chervonets of Peter I has varieties and remodels - coins, the minting of which was made on the prototype of a real coin with genuine or made stamps at the mint , usually later than real coins [11] [12] .
