Yuri Sergeyevich Romanov ( May 13, 1939 , the city of Moscow , now the Russian Federation - December 25, 2015 , the city of Odessa ) - Ukrainian figure, scientist. Candidate of physical and mathematical sciences. People's Deputy of Ukraine of the 1st convocation.
Biography
Born in the family of a soldier.
In September 1956-1961, he was a student at the Physics Department of Odessa State University named after Mechnikov, a physicist. In 1961-1965, he was a student of the evening faculty of radio communications of Odessa Electrotechnical Institute, a radio engineer.
Since 1961 - Researcher at the Astronomical Observatory, Assistant of the Department of Astronomy, Deputy Director of the Astronomy Observatory, Postgraduate Student of the Department of Astronomy; Junior, senior, leading researcher at the Astronomical Observatory, head of the department for the study of variable stars of the astronomical observatory of Odessa State University named after Mechnikov.
Member of the CPSU from 1967 to 1991 .
In 1974, at the Mechnikov Odessa State University, he defended his thesis “Research on the Blazhko effect of the variable star RZ Lyra”.
March 18, 1990, elected People's Deputy of Ukraine, 2nd round, 46.30% of the vote, 9 applicants. He was a member of the Center group. Chairman of the subcommission, in 1993-1994 - Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commission on Ecology and Environmental Management.
At the same time, in March 1990 - March 1994 - deputy, chairman of the commission on environmental issues of the Odessa Regional Council of People's Deputies. Member of the Odessa human rights organization "Ukraine".
Since May 1994 - vice-rector for scientific work, head of the department for research of variable stars of the astronomical observatory of Odessa State University named after Mechnikov.
Member of the International Astronomical Union (since 1976). Member of the Union of Scientific and Engineering Societies of the USSR (p. 12.1978), chairman of the Intersectoral Committee on Environmental Protection of the Odessa Regional Board of the Union of Scientific and Engineering Societies of the USSR (p. 02.1980). Full member of UEAN (1992). Since May 1997 - Chairman of the Audit Commission of the Odessa Regional Public Organization "Justice".
