Bavarin Square is an element of the urban infrastructure of Barnaul . Located at the beginning of Lenin Avenue near the river port on the Ob , it is limited by the Barnaulka River and Maxim Gorky Street. From the square begins Mamontov street.

History
It was named in memory of the first secretary of the Barnaul city committee of the CPSU (1986-1991), then the first mayor of Barnaul (1991-2003) Vladimir Bavarin (1939-2003), who died in a car accident on February 22, 2003 [1] . Previously, this territory was nameless. Solemnly opened on September 6, 2003 [2] .
During the opening ceremony of the square, a place was dedicated to the construction of the chapel of the Holy Equal-to-the-Apostles Prince Vladimir . On July 27, 2004, the chapel was inaugurated and consecrated [3] .
The territory adjacent to the square was redeveloped in the 1980s during the construction of the River Station and the bridge across the Ob and a road junction to it. Then the streets of Bolshaya and Malaya Olonsky, Mamontova were shortened, oblique plowing (road to the mountain), Bolshaya and Malaya Zmeevsky streets were torn down [4] [5] [6] .
