Trains
Trains are powered by a direct current of 750 volts, the width of the train is 3.12 m, the height is 3.8, the length of the car is 21.5 - 21.8 m.
The line is served by 19 metro trains, each with 3 to 6 cars. The capacity of the three-car train is 886 passengers. The maximum speed is 80 km / h, the average speed is 35 km / h. [one]
Stations
Each station has three floors - on the upper floor there are shopping pavilions, on the middle - a cash room, on the lower - a platform and tracks. The stations are equipped with automatic gates at the border of the tracks, which open only upon arrival of the train. [one]
History
On August 9, 1999, His Majesty King Phumipon Adulyadej gave the official name for the metro line.
On July 3, 2004, King and Queen Sirikit officially opened the metro line of 18 stations with a length of more than 20 km. [one]
On August 11, 2017, the Tao Pun station was opened, and the stage from it to Bang Si station, 1.2 km long. [3]
Development
The existing “Blue” line is planned to be extended in both directions and should form a loop, covering mainly around the perimeter of the agglomeration core and crossing itself in the southwest, in Thonburi (Thaphra station). Construction of line extensions began at both ends, from Hualamphong and Bangsa stations. The southern part of the line should pass through the island of Rattanakosin , saturated with historical and cultural sights, providing it with convenient transport links [4] .
Only four stations following the Hualamphong station, with 5.4 km of lines, will be underground. The remaining 15 stations and 21.5 km of lines will be above ground. The estimated time for commissioning the Hua Lamphong Station - Lak Song Station section is until September 2019, and the Tao Poon Station - Tha Phra Station section - until March 2020 [5] . As of May 2018, construction work has been completed by 98.53% [6] .
