Ryan Bennett ( born March 6, 1990 , , Essex ) is an English footballer who is the center back of the Wolverhampton Wanderers Premier League club.

Club career

From 1996 to 2006 he studied at the football academy of the Ipswich Town club. In 2006 he became a player at the Grimsby Town Club Academy. He made his debut in the main squad on April 7, 2007, replacing the match in League 2 (the fourth division in the English football league system ) against Milton Keynes Dons [2] .

Before the start of the 2007/08 season I got a T-shirt with the number “5”. He scored the first goal in his professional career in the first round of the 2007/08 season, sending the ball his head into the net of the Notts County goal [3] . In May 2008, Bennett was voted “Best Young Player of the Season” according to Grimsby Town fans.

In October 2008, 18-year-old Bennett received a captain's armband from the new head coach of Grimsby Town Mike Newell. According to the results of the 2008/09 season, he received awards to the best player of the year at Grimsby Town, as well as to the best young player of the season according to the fans of the club and a number of other awards. In May and June 2009, Grimsby Town rejected several transfer offers from Bennett from Peterborough United [4] . After that, Ryan signed a four-year contract with the club.

On October 23, 2009, Bennett went on a three-month lease to Peterborough United with the possibility of a full transfer at the end of the term. Peterborough head coach Darren Ferguson said: “Ryan is a great acquisition for us, he has the potential and is consistent with our policy of acquiring high-quality young players for the club.” On January 23, 2010, Bennett became a full-fledged player at Peterborough United, signing a four and a half year contract with the club. Spent 100 matches for the club and scored 7 goals.

On January 31, 2012, Bennett signed a contract with the Norwich City Premier League club [5] . According to the terms of the agreement, in February he still played for Peterborough on loan, and in March he returned to Norwich. His debut for the “Canaries” took place on March 31, 2012 in the Premier League match against Fulham [6] . He scored his first goal for the club on April 20, 2013 in the Premier League match against Reading [7] .

In May 2017, it was announced that at the end of the season, Bennett and six other players would leave Norwich City as free agents. [8]

On May 31, 2017, Ryan Bennett signed a three-year contract with the Wolverhampton Wanderers Club [9] . On December 30, 2017, he scored his first goal for the Wolves in the match against Bristol City . A goal was scored in the fourth added minute and brought Wolverhampton a guest victory 2-1 [10] .

Career in the national team

Spent one match for England under 18 (against Austria) in 2008. He also played in two matches of England before the age of 21 .
