Biography
Kim San Hyun was born on January 18, 1955 in Busan , South Korea .
He made his debut in boxing at a professional level in September 1973, having beaten his opponent in points in four rounds. He played mainly in the home rings of Busan and for a long time did not know defeats, although the level of his opposition at that time was not very high.
Having 15 victories in the track record, he was awarded the right to challenge the title of the Eastern and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) welterweight champion and went to box in Indonesia with local fighter Wongso Suseno. The confrontation between them lasted all the allotted 12 rounds, as a result, the judges gave the victory to the Indonesian, and Kim thus suffered the first defeat in his professional career.
Subsequently, made a series of several victories and in September 1978 still won the OPBF champion title. Having risen in the ratings, in the same year he met with the current world champion in the version of the World Boxing Council (WBC) Thai Saensak Muangsurin (13-1) - he won by technical knockout in the 13th round and took the championship belt for himself.
Kim San Hyun managed to defend the title twice. He lost it in the third defense in February 1980, losing by technical knockout to the American Saul Mambi (26-12-5).
In 1981, he regained the OPBF welterweight title and then defended it three times.
He boxed for the last time on a professional level in April 1983, when he met with the current World Boxing Association (WBA) world champion American Aaron Pryor (32-0) and lost him by TKO in the third round - at this defeat he decided to end his sports career. In total, Kim spent 48 fights in the pro ring, of which 41 won (including 24 ahead of schedule), 4 lost, while in three cases a draw was recorded.
