History

The building was carried out by the headman of the Ascension Church merchant Ivan Semenovich Starichenkov, who specially bought land for his own money for construction, put the land into the ownership of the church and put 3,000 rubles in silver to receive interest on the maintenance of a charitable institution. It was assumed that in the almshouse will live 5 male and 7 female members of the clergy and philistines. In 1890, Anna Petrovna Starichenkova turned to the vicar bishop of Mozhaisk and said that after Ivan Semenovich Starichenkov, her father Petr Ivanovich Starichenkov was the irreplaceable headman of the Ascension Church for more than 30 years, but upon his death and the election of a new headman, the clergy removed him from the establishment of an almshouse and wants to tear the house into the ownership of the temple. This, she believes, is illegal, since her grandfather built the building at his own expense and never transferred the rights to the church building. She asks the bishop about this to inform the clergy of the church. In response to a letter from Anna Petrovna, the Moscow Spiritual Consistory conducted an investigation, which revealed that her grandfather had donated land to the church, but Korchagin, who sold the land to Starichenkov, gave it up for a charitable purpose practically for nothing, and the brick for the construction was made with church funds. From the very beginning, the almshouse was considered a church, and this was noted in annual reports to higher authorities. In addition, the capital for the maintenance of the almshouse is only 3,000 rubles. was donated by her grandfather, and the remaining 4000 were donated by other donors. As a result of the judicial debate, the Moscow District Court in 1895 recognized the justice of the church’s home rights and decided to issue a certificate to the church [1] .

Today the almshouse is privately owned.
