Alexander Balashov (born May 28, 1967 , Leninogorsk , East Kazakhstan Region , Kazakh SSR , USSR ) is a Soviet and Russian motorcycle racer, a repeated champion of the world and Russia.

Biography and career
In 1979, at the age of 12, Alexander Anatolyevich Balashov took part in his first competition on a moped with an engine capacity of 50 cm³ in the group of young men under 14 years old, at regional motocross competitions. Given the inadequate preparation of equipment and the lack of practical skills, the first achievement of Alexander Balashov was that, unlike many of his friends, beginner athletes, he just reached the finish line.
At the age of 16, Alexander Balashov took second place in the Championship of the Kazakh SSR in motocross among juniors, after which he was enrolled in the national team of the Kazakh SSR. After training in Alma-Ata as part of the national team, Alexander went to Leningrad for the USSR Championship (1985). At the same age, Alexander Balashov began training on ice. The first coach of Alexander was the famous coach Vasily Vasilievich Dalchanin.
In 1986, Alexander took part in the semi-finals of the USSR Championship in motorcycling on ice in Leningrad. He was not among the winners, but was noticed by coach Viktor Arkadievich Saburov, who invited a young driver to Moscow and offered to play for the ZIL plant team [1] . In his first competitions in the status of a racer of the ZIL plant in 1987, at the USSR Championship among juniors, A. Balashov took second place and was already invited to the USSR national motorcycle ice racing team.
1987-1989 - service in the ranks of the SA in the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany (GSVG) .
After the service, I had to start all over from scratch, as Alexander was expelled from the national team for the period of service.
Officially, a sports career ended in 2005.
