Biography

Born in Leningrad in a family that had no relation to art. Father - Mayorov Evgeny Sergeevich (1910-1965) worked in the civilian fleet, participated in the laying of the port of Tiksi . Mother - Anna Maklakova (born 1919), blockade woman. Brothers - Sergey (1948), Vasily (1951). The family lived in a communal apartment on 3rd Krasnoarmeyskaya Street. Neighbors are the family of architect Mikhail Semenovich Bakshtein.

Igor began to paint in the regional House of Pioneers, the code went to first grade. The teachers predicted the young man a career as a successful artist. When he turned 10, his work won the Grand Prix at the children's drawing contest held in 1957 in India as part of the festival of youth and students. After winning the competition, the boy is enrolled in the famous Central Art School. Johanson at the Academy of Fine Arts, which accept only gifted children who have high expectations. There he studies for 4 years.

After graduating from the Central Art School, Maiorov enters the Art College. Serov (currently bears the name of Nicholas Roerich). It was there that the niece of Alexander Blok, Marina Georgievna Blok , taught the marriage of Tim (1913-1999). Marina Georgievna is called the heiress of Russian traditions of XX century modernism. At seventeen, the young man became one of her favorite students.

To date, several dozen personal exhibitions of the artist have been held. His works are in the collections of M. Rostropovich , M. Plisetskaya , S. Mikhalkov , Paul McCartney , Jacques Chirac , V. Tereshkova . After the death of the artist, his works were exhibited in Hamburg, Munich, Helsinki, Paris, Vienna.

One of the first works by Igor Mayorov was acquired and exhibited by the Foundation for Free Russian Contemporary Art - a non-profit creative association of artists - non-conformists and public figures of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Minsk and other cities, created in Munich in 1987.
