Biography
Sherridan Kirk was born in 1981. The main specialization of the Trinidad athlete was the 800-meter run. At the junior level, Kirk became the multiple winner of CARIFTA Games - Games held between athletes from the countries of the Caribbean Free Trade Association, in the age category under 20 years old, and also won two bronze medals in the youth championship of Central America and the Caribbean. In 2000, Kirk performed at the youth championship in Santiago , but dropped out in the semifinals at an 800-meter distance. Also, the Trinidad athlete could not break into the final at the adult Commonwealth Games of 2002.
In 2003, Kirk won his first significant international awards. At the Central American and Caribbean Athletics Championships, Kirk became the champion at a distance of 800 meters, and also won bronze in the 4x400 m relay in the Trinidad and Tobago national team. In the same year, he was close to being among the winners at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, but on the 800-meter ranked 5th, and in the relay 4th. In 2004, he became one of the 14 Trinidad athletes who were included in the national team for participation in the Athens Summer Olympics [2] . The national team of Trinidad and Tobago could not qualify for the Relay Games and therefore Kirk participated only in personal competitions at a distance of 800 meters . Kirk failed to achieve success in Athens, already in the first round the Trinidad runner showed a rather weak result - 1: 48.22 and, taking only 6th place in his race, dropped out of the fight for medals.
In 2005, Kirk again won two medals at the Central American and Caribbean Championships, but unlike the previous championship, this time he became a double silver medalist. Kirk was close to winning a medal in 2006 at the Commonwealth Games, but once again remained in 4th place. Trinidad runner won his last significant award at the Games of Central America and the Caribbean in Cartagena, losing in the fight for gold only to Cuban Andy Gonzalez.
Between 2000 and 2006, Kirk won 7 national championships in 800 meters. The last season in his sports career for Kirk was 2009.
