Jürgen Osterhammel ( Jürgen Osterhammel ; born June 1, 1952, Wipperfürth, Germany) is a German historian . EMERIT professor of the University of Constance , member of Leopoldina (2012), member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (2010) [3] and the British Academy (2014) [4] . Laureate of the Balzan Prize (2018) [5] and other distinctions.

Biography
In 1980, he received a doctorate in history with honors from the University of Kassel, and in 1990 he was habilitated at the University of Freiburg. In September 1981, he passed the Second with distinction. From 1982 to 1986, the research fellos of the . From 1986 to 1990, a senior lecturer in political science at the University of Freiburg. From 1990 to 1997, he was a professor of non-European history at the Hagen Correspondence University. From 1997 to 1999, he was a professor of the history of international relations of the Geneva Institute of International Relations. Since 1999, professor of history of the XIX and XX centuries of the University of Constance, since April 2018, retired. Member of the European Academy (2004), Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences (2001) [6] , Turin Academy of Sciences (2015) [7] .
