Club career
From 1991 to 1998 he played for Bayer , in 1993, together with the Leverkusen club, he won the German Cup . In the 1998/99 season he played for Paris Saint-Germain . In 1999 he moved to Borussia from Dortmund . As part of Borussia, he became the German champion in 2002.
Team Career
Werns in 1992 held his first match for the national team, in the same year he became the silver medalist of the European Championship, but did not play a single match in the tournament.
As part of the national team, he participated in the 1992 European Championship , the 1998 World Cup (where he received a red card in the match against Croatia) and the 2004 European Championship .
