In 1952, the leadership of the International Communist Party , in which Pierre Lambert and Marcel Bleibtroy were key figures, was removed by decision of the International Secretariat of the Fourth International . Most organizations did not support this decision, which led to its split. The following year, 1953, Lambert and Blybtroy were among the initiators of the creation of the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI), the opposition to the international leadership led by Michel Pablo .

During the Algerian War of Independence in the ITUC, differences began between Lambert and Blythebroi to support the national liberation organizations that existed in Algeria. Lamber believed that it was necessary to focus on the Movement for the Triumph of Democratic Freedoms (MTLD) led by Messali Hajj , and Blaibtra on the Revolutionary Committee of Unity and Action (KRUA, the forerunner of the National Liberation Front ). As a result, in 1955, Lamber expelled Blaibtroy from the organization.

Since 1967, the INC became known as the International Communist Organization (OCI). During the student unrest of 1968, the organization grew rapidly. Then the OCI was banned along with other ultra-left groups, and temporarily adopted the name "Trotskyist Organization." In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the OCI established ties with the Confédération Générale du Travail - Force Ouvrière.

In the second half of the 1960s, the OCI leadership began to disagree with the leaders of another key section of the ICFI, the British Socialist Labor League Jerry Healy . In 1971, Lambert supporters left the International, creating their own international tendency - the Organizing Committee for the Reconstruction of the Fourth International (OKCHI).

In 1981, OCI again began to call itself the International Communist Party. And in 1984, with the participation of representatives of various socialist movements, the Movement for the Party of Workers (DZPT) was formed. The organization is undergoing a series of splits. In 1984, part of the organization, led by Stefan Just, opposed the establishment of DZPT, which were expelled. In 1986, several hundred activists, led by Jean-Christophe Kambadelis, quit the organization and became part of the Socialist Party . And in 1989, about a hundred activists were expelled along with renowned historian Pierre Brouet .

On the basis of the DZPT, the Workers' Party was established in 1991, and the ITUC joined it as the International Communist Movement ( Courant communiste internationaliste ).
