Biography
At the 1960 Summer Olympics in Rome, in the first three circles, he successively defeated Iranian fighter Ali Bani Hashemi, Greek athlete Mikhail Theodoropoulos and representative of Austria Franz Brunner. In the fourth round, his fight with the Bulgarian wrestler Dinko Petrov ended in a draw. After the fifth fight with the Swedish wrestler Edwin Westerby , who also ended in a draw, he scored 7 penalty points and dropped out of the further fight, taking the final 5th place.
At the next Olympics in 1964 in Tokyo, he won the first two fights over Chiang Yi Hyun from South Korea and Iranian wrestler Siawash Shawizade. In the third round, Shvets was defeated on points from Jon Cher , and in the next round he scored a draw with the Soviet athlete Vladlen Trostyansky . In the final battle of the fifth round, Shvets was defeated on points by the representative of Japan Masamitsu Itiguchi and took 4th place.
In 1968, Mexico City in the first fight purely defeated Jose Luis García from Guatemala . In the next fight with Nicholas Lazarou from Greece, both fighters were disqualified . In the third fight with the representative of Japan, Hideo Fujimoto Shvets lost on points and completed the performance.
