William Lutley Sclater (1863-1944) - British zoologist, director of the museum. Best known as an ornithologist , despite the fact that he also described several new species of amphibians and reptiles [3] [4] .

Biography
The son of Philip Sclater . February 1, 1896 married. In 1913-1930 he was the editor of the ornithological journal Ibis . He traveled with his wife to Africa, traveled to America. In 1912, he published the two-volume work A History of the Birds of Colorado . During the First World War , both stepsons of a scientist died.
In 1942, his wife Charlotte, and in 1944, Sklater himself died from the wounds they received during the German bombing of London and the fall of V-1 into the scientist’s house, respectively.
Contribution to Science
In 1891, in one work, he described 4 new species of snakes [5] . The species of snakes Enuliophis sclateri ( Boulenger , 1894) was named after the father of the scientist Philip [6] .
