Story

Children ride a school bus on a mountain road during heavy snowfall. They make a lot of noise, annoying Miss Crabtree , who, among other things, has resorted to the threat of "shut up or I'll kill the rabbit." Since the road is closed due to avalanches in one place, Miss Crabtree drives the bus along a dangerous bypass road, and as a result, it breaks a couple of wheels into the abyss and gets stuck. Miss Crabtree sets off for help, leaving the children on the bus and telling them that if they get out, they will be devoured by a terrible black monster. She goes on the road and gets into the car to the drug dealer Marcus, who really likes it from the first second.

The children are terrified; they do not want to die trapped. Stan says that they have been in much worse situations, and recalls the incident that occurred in the episode " Cartman and Anal Probe " when she and Kyle tried to return the stolen aliens Ike . However, this flashback, like the subsequent flashbacks in the series, consists partly of old, partly of new frames and ends in a different way: an ice cream van appears from Cartman’s ass, the aliens buy ice cream, and Stan kisses Wendy . Meanwhile, Miss Crabtree with her new acquaintance comes to the city, gets on some kind of stand-up show and leads the audience to hysterics, shouting in her usual manner at the acting bad comedian. The agent pays attention to her.

One of the boys on the bus does not stand up and decides to get out. The rest warn him, but he declares that he is not afraid of the monster, but does not want to die here. He goes out; everything is fine at first, but then the black monster actually appears and eats it. Miss Crabtree is brought to Denver to the talent agency, and she forgets about the bus. Children on the bus reflect on a terrible monster, and Kyle compares it to Skazlozop, after which there is a flashback to the Vulcan series. In the version of Kyle, Skazlozhop finally makes everyone ice cream, and everyone is happy. Cartman suggests that the monster is Mr. Harrison , and recalls an episode from the 4000 Weight Gain series where he tried to kill Katie Lee Gifford . In his version of events, he himself does not grow fat, but becomes a pumped-up handsome man, Mr. Harrison kills Katie Lee, because she turns out to be an alien, Stan and Wendy kiss after all that has happened, and the mayor gives all residents of the city ice cream.

Miss Crabtree performs on the Jay Leno show , and the parents of all the children, worried about the loss, go to sort out Mr. Mackey . He suggests that all the children ran away from home, and the search begins. The children on the bus again think of the creepy monster, and Kenny recalls the incident from the episode " Death ." In his version, he ends with Kenny killing Death, and not vice versa, after which he takes ice cream from her cloak and eats. Immediately after this flashback, the monster gets on the bus, grabs Kenny and kills.

Miss Crabtree is successful with Jay Leno, however, popularity begins to weigh her.

The children on the bus think about how to escape from the monster, and Cartman recalls how Fonzi (the character of the Happy Days series) jumped over the bus in the presence of four children. He performs the trick successfully, although he crashes into Kenny on a motorcycle and kills him, after which he begins to eat ice cream. However, Stan and Kyle blame Cartman for the implausibility of his flashback. The bus begins to roll into the abyss; the children manage to balance it again. After that, Kyle recalls a case from the same episode about a boy getting off a bus and eaten by a monster. The flashback ends with the monster giving all the children ice cream.

A little later, the children recall that Miss Crabtree watched instructional films on television and turned it on. A video is shown there, in which all parents of South Park sing in a nasty voice to a song addressed to the "escaped" children. Cartman recalls the ending of Cartman's Milf Still a Dirty Whore , where he finds out who his father is; in this version, it turns out to be John Elloway , who takes Eric off to treat ice cream. Offended by Stan’s bullying after this flashback, Cartman starts to stagger the bus, Craig (we see this in the background) falls out the back window, the bus falls into a huge pile of ice cream. At that moment, Cartman wakes up; it turns out that everything that happened was his dream. Mom enters his room and begins to feed him bugs with ice cream. At this moment, Stan wakes up, and it turns out that Stan had a dream of Cartman.

In the series finale, Miss Crabtree and Marcus are sitting by the pond; they understand that everything that happens is only a little boy’s dream, but they are so good that they don’t want this to end.

Kenny's death

In fact, Kenny does not die, as the whole series is Stan's dream. In Stan's dream, Kenny dies when a large black monster tears apart the bus roof, pulls Kenny out and eats. However, after this, Kenny appears several times in the episode unscathed. Kenny also dies in one of the flashbacks when Fonzy from the Happy Days sitcom jumps over the buses on a motorcycle, after which he cannot stop and spreads Kenny's head on the wall with a motorcycle. Boys doubt the veracity of this flashback when they recall that Kenny was just killed by a monster (this is the first time in the series when children, even in a dream, are surprised that Kenny is constantly dying and unhurt again in the next episode).

Parodies

  • The episode, like the second episode of the series “ Clerks: The Animated Series ”, parodies the clip show - new episodes of the show, consisting of fragments of old ones “remembered” by the characters. Each of the flashbacks in the previous episodes ends with eating ice cream or some appearance of it, and then the “recaller” says “Well, that’s what we’d say, we’ve gotten into it,” and everyone laughs, and each episode of memories contains an error in the development of the line or inaccuracy - Flashbacks are based on already shown episodes of the series. After the first flashback, in the Cartman and Anal Probe series, Cartman says, “Was it all like that?”, And after the last, Stan clarifies whether his mother and not John Elloway are Cartman’s father. In two flashbacks, Stan kisses Wendy, although usually he used to feel sick in such cases.
  • The series finale refers to the classic film by Louis Bunuel, “The Modest Charm of the Bourgeoisie, ” in one of the episodes of which the dream heroes dream, in which the dream heroes dream.
  • When photographs are shown in the program about missing children, among them is a photo of Macaulay Culkin with the inscription “Find Me” ( English Find Me ), which is a mockery of Culkin’s career, which actually stopped after 1994 .
  • A bus crash scene mimics the movie The Titanic .

Interesting Facts

  • The episode was attended by 3 “invited stars”: Henry Winkler voiced the monster, Jay Leno himself, Brent Masburger leg of Skazlozhop [2] .
  • An instructional video for bus drivers is hosted by South Park News anchor Tom .
  • When annoyed by Miss Crabtree , she runs into the threat of “shut up or I'll kill the rabbit” - this is a clear parody of the movie “Air Prison” by Nicolos Cage.
  • In Kenny's memory, when he kills Death, Kyle and Stan say, “Oh God, Kenny killed Death. Bastard? .. ".
  • Also in the episode “ Volcano ”, instead of Skazlozhop’s leg, “ Patrick Duffy from television”, and in the flashback - Brent Marsburger.
  • The black monster’s first victim was wearing a red turtleneck with the traditional Star Trek symbolism, which is a parody of the standard death of the Red Shirts in almost every episode of the parodied series.
  • When a chorus of parents singing in order to return the “runaway” children is shown on television, there is Mr. Garrison among them, who never had children.
