History

The brigade was created as the 44th guards cannon artillery brigade on May 24, 1944 on the basis of the 110th guards cannon artillery Odessa regiment of the Reserve of the Supreme High Command , the 1162th cannon artillery regiment of the Reserve of the Supreme High Command and the 839th separate reconnaissance artillery division. In 1960, it was reorganized into the 98th Guards Army Artillery Regiment. On August 25, 1981, the regiment was reorganized into the 385th Guards Artillery Brigade, which was part of the 3rd combined arms army until the end of the existence of the Western Group of Forces . The 385th Guards Artillery Brigade at the time of the disbandment of the Western Group of Forces was part of the 3rd Combined Arms Army in the village of Planken near the town of Haldensleben on the territory of the German Democratic Republic.
