The Agin steppe is a steppe plain with a length of about 100 km in the Trans-Baikal Territory . It is located between the rivers Aga and Onon [1] .

It is a typically expressed feather grass steppe with feather grass - fescue - wormwood and tansy vegetation [2] . In the northern part, it looks like a plateau, high, rocky, with a slight slope to the Age river. In the southern part stretch low hills that make up the watershed of the Aga and Onon rivers [3] .
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Buryats still wandered here: "nomadic herders, partly primitive farmers" [3] . Currently, significant areas have been plowed up [2] . In order to preserve and restore the natural steppe and water ecosystems of the Aginsky steppe in the interfluve of the Onon and Aga rivers, on the territory of the Aginsky district , in 2004 the state complex nature reserve “Aginsky Steppe” with an area of 45,762 hectares was created [4] .
