Petri, Andrew

Endre Petri ( Hungarian. Petri Endre ; May 29, 1907 , Budapest - April 28, 1975 , Budapest ) - Hungarian pianist and music teacher.

He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music (1927), a student of Irene Shenn , also studied under the guidance of Zoltan Kodai (composition) and Ernst von Donany .

Throughout the 1930s He performed in different countries of Europe as a soloist and accompanist, including with Jozsef Szigeti . January 9, 1939, together with Szigeti and Benny Goodman, performed at the Carnegie Hall the premiere of " Contrasts " Bela Bartok . After 1945, he worked as a tutor for a short time at the Budapest Opera . In 1952 he recorded piano solos for the movie of Marton Keleti “Erkel” (“Hungarian Melodies”).

Since 1953, he taught the chamber ensemble at the Liszt Academy of Music, among his students, in particular, Zoltan Benkyo .
