Biography
Born in Naples on June 24, 1856 in the family of Luigi Caprile and Antonietta, nee Fiscone. In 1874-1877 he studied painting at the Institute of Fine Arts (now the Academy of Fine Arts) in Naples with Gabriele Smargassi and , then with Domenico Morelli . Belonged to the artists of the , along with friends and . He made his debut at the exhibition of the Society for the Promotion of Fine Arts, Salvatore Rosa in 1873 in Naples with the painting "Dowry of Rita." In 1874-1888 he took an active part in exhibitions at home and abroad.
In 1888 he received the title of Honorary Professor at the Institute of Fine Arts in Naples. The following year he worked in the capital of Argentina, painting mainly portraits. Upon returning to his hometown, he painted views of Campania and scenes from the life of Neapolitans. At the 1905 exhibition in Venice, his painting The Apparition was praised by critics. Caprile shared the last third of his life between Naples and Venice. In the latter, he spent every spring. He died in Naples on June 23, 1936.
