Possibilitas re probata est (from lat. - “the opportunity is proved by deed”) is the motto of the Donetsk region of Ukraine .
The phrase that became the motto was borrowed from the statement of the outstanding scientist Dmitry Mendeleev , who visited the region in 1897 on behalf of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences and characterized its potential as follows [1] :
