Aldan ulus (district) ( Yakut. Aldan uluuһa ) is an administrative-territorial unit ( ulus or district ) and a municipality ( municipal district ) in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) of the Russian Federation .

History
The area was formed on May 5, 1930.
Geography
The area is located in the south of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), on the Aldan shield . The oldest crystalline rock formations with an age of more than 3 billion years come to the surface. The area of the district is 156.8 thousand km². The highest point in the region is 2,264 m (a mountain at the head of the Gonam River).
Large rivers of the region: Aldan , Ungra , Timpton , Gonam , Uchur , Amga . All rivers have a fast flow, abound with rifts and rapids. On passability belong to the III and IV category of complexity, the navigable section of the Aldan River is 1,763 km. The river valleys are almost deserted and poorly developed.
According to the assessment of the natural living conditions of the population, the region is significantly inferior to the flat territories of Central and North-Western Yakutia, lying up to 1000 km to the north. According to the data of medical geographic zoning, the territory is uncomfortable with difficult compensation, the recommended period of stay of newcomers is from 3 to 6 years, full adaptation is possible only for the indigenous population, and it makes up a small fraction of the population: 3.86% - Yakuts , 4.11% - Evenki .
