The magazine was launched in the spring of 1888 at the printing house of the Ministry of War in Sofia.
The first editor of the magazine was the major of the army headquarters, Racho Petrov. The circulation of the first issue was 2000 copies.
Until February 14, 1892, when the newspaper "Sofia" began to appear Military News , the magazine was the only print publication of the War Department.
In 1913 and in 1916 - 1919 the magazine was not published.
On March 19, 1919, the magazine’s printing house was withdrawn from the Ministry of War and transformed into an independent organization, the Military Publishing Fund .
From July 1930 to April 1943, the magazine came out with the appendix " Prigeld to foreign military press "(a total of 46 application numbers came out).
By order of the Minister of Defense of Bulgaria D. Ludzhev No. 16 dated January 27, 1992, the magazine was called the "military-theoretical publication of the armed forces of Bulgaria."
After combining the editorial board of the magazine with the editorial department of the Sofia Military Academy in 2000, the magazine is also a printed publication of the Sofia Military Academy named after G. Rakovsky .
