Referenda in Switzerland were held on March 21, June 13, September 26 and December 5, 1976 [1] . In March, referendums were held on popular initiatives “for the participation of employees” (proposal and counter-proposal) and “for tax reform”. All were rejected [2] . In June, referendums were held on the federal law on territorial planning, on a loan for the International Development Association (200 million Swiss francs) and on updating unemployment insurance . The first two referenda were rejected, and the referendum on unemployment benefits was approved [2] .
In September, two referenda were held on the constitutional amendment regarding broadcasting and on the popular initiative “for the insurance liability of the union for cars and bicycles”. Both were rejected. In December, referendums were held on monetary policy (rejected), price monitoring (approved) and on the popular initiative to introduce a 40-hour work week (rejected).
